Bad Llama are an alternative/metal band formed in 2016 based in Burton Upon Trent. Bad Llama blend a sound of 90s rock, funk and metal with modern industrial and progressive sounds. Their sound delivers powerful choruses, intense vocals, funky basslines, diverse beats and prominent guitars with climactic outros.
Bad Llama released their debut EP ‘Shedding Skin’ in September 2016, with its leading single ‘The Wolf You Feed’ being aired on Kerrang! Radio several times. The band were also played on BBC Introducing East Midlands and many other stations across the world.
They have also made a TV appearance as part of Johnny Doom’s show ‘Amp’d’ on Birmingham TV. Bad Llama are now set to release their brand new single ‘Apocrypha‘ on the 10th November 2017 which will be the first track of their upcoming EP ‘Crooked Empire’.
Bad Llama consist of Kyle Jordan (Vocals), Lewis Hutchings (Bass), Gaz Waddell (Drums), Dan Houlbrooke (Guitar) and Sam Wyatt (Guitar and Backing vocals).
We did a review of their EP Shedding Skin which you can read here: https://spinsundaymusicreviews.com/?s=bad+llama
Starting with a wave of sound from bass and drums which is then joined by the guitars adding a string like quality over, ebbing and flowing with distorted sounds that become more intense once the vocals kick in. The track builds into the chorus showing the intensity and passion that this band possess. The vocals have depth and emotion which are perfect for this track. The riff is mournful and possesses soul, allowing the momentum to fall away to a stripped back vocal section. Building to the climax of the track the instrumentation is broodingly intense with swagger and drive.
Apocrypha is a great track and I am much looking forward to the new EP Crooked Empire which will allow Bad Llama to deliver more of what they are good at, great music that keeps you on your toes.
