Deadfly are a 4-piece band based in Torbay in South Devon. They combine bluesy Grunge/Desert Rock, taking influences from a range of bands including Queens Of The Stone Age, Nirvana and The Doors. The band are Lee on vocals, Sweeney on guitar, Stu on drums, and Mike on bass.
I recently reviewed their self titled EP https://spinsundaymusicreviews.com/2017/07/09/deadfly-deadfly-ep/ and found it to have a charm whilst mixing political and social points of view.
This is their latest single, Demockery, which is due to be released as a download from Bandcamp https://deadflyy.bandcamp.com/releases as well ITunes, Spotify and other online platforms. They are also releasing a video to accompany the single.
Starting with a simple drum beat which combines with funky, deep bass and fuzzy riffs this tune will soon have your toes tapping along. With loads of punk influences that allow Lee to display the gravelly quality of his voice which are filled with contempt and anarchy.
The interplay between guitars is interesting, darkly hazy adding additional texture to the track, whilst the drumming thunders on beneath. Again, this single is providing commentary on the social and political arena, pouring scorn onto the system and its beliefs.
I am really looking forward to seeing the video and seeing the band in action.
